Venture out of your flat and you’ll find an external courtyard that you can enjoy on Aberdeen’s sunnier days. Bringing your own car? You’ll be pleased to know that Don Street House has its very own car park.

Nearby Seaton Park is the perfect place to go for a long walk on a warm day, with the green fields and picturesque woods allowing you to escape from the city. Lidl is just down the road for all of your grocery needs, while the famous Granite Mile, with its 800 shops, bars and restaurants, is only 10 minutes away by bus.

If you don’t fancy cooking, or want to eat out; King Street is a 10 minute walk from the residence and has a selection of restaurants and takeaways. There are many different cuisines to tickle everyone’s taste buds, including Manzil for traditional Indian, Sam’s Chinese, and Pizza Hut. For those with a sweet tooth, why not try Casa di Gelato for a delicious ice cream  - come rain or shine!

Alternatively, you can venture further into the city centre by bus where you will find a bigger range of well-known chain restaurants, including Nando’s, Cosmo’s World Buffet, Prezzo and Ask plus many more.

If you are looking to keep fit, Aberdeen Sports Village ran by the University of Aberdeen is less than a 20 minute walk from the residence. The Sports Village has a selection of world class sporting facilities for everyone to enjoy, including a swimming pool, squash courts, fully equipped gym, sports hall, indoor athletics, a hockey pitch plus much more.

Sports enthusiasts are well catered to with a range of exciting activities across the city. Aberdeen has swimming pools, 11 golf courses, and the largest bowling alley in Scotland, so there’s always something exciting to get stuck into.

Travel and Transport
Don Street House is within walking distance from the University of Aberdeen, and there are transport links close by. Local bus services around the city are reliable and reasonably priced, and it’s good to know that student passes are available for your benefit.

Aberdeen’s main train station is situated in the city centre – 15 minutes by car or 20 minutes by bus. Fellow Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in less than 3 hours, and of course there is a direct rail service link to London including a sleeper service because the journey takes around 8 (!) hours. If you don’t fancy the 8 hour train to London, you can grab a flight for only £50 and be there in just over an hour.

For those who live outside of the UK, Aberdeen Airport is the city's very own and is just a 15 minute taxi ride away, which provides a range of widespread routes across the UK, Europe and other international locations. 

Additionally, coach services provide trips around the UK at competitive prices with discounts available for students.
