About this place

Moorfield provides a home for 416 students in the centre of the city. Previously known as Liberty Gardens, it’s just a mile from both the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, while SAE Liverpool is just five minutes away by foot.

Choose from a range of en-suite bedrooms and, not only will you have a study desk and lots of storage, but you’ll also have a bathroom all to yourself. A shared, fully-fitted kitchen and living area is also on hand when you feel like cooking or socialising with flatmates.

Take some time to explore the rest of Moorfield and you’ll discover some fantastic areas to relax or study. The common rooms here have comfortable seats, quiet areas for when you need to work and a TV room and pool table that you can use during your downtime. Plus, there’s 18 car parking spaces up for grabs if you plan on bringing your own car.

In the heart of the city, just 10 minutes away by foot, you’ll find hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants. Want a bit of culture? Liverpool’s World Museum, Central Library and the new Avril Robarts Library can be reached within minutes and are impressive places to spend an afternoon. If you fancy some evening entertainment, the popular and vibrant Ropewalks area is the place to be.

Social Scene
At Moorfield you’ll be in the heart of Liverpool’s University district and only a 3 minute walk  from the city centre. The residence is well-located and is only a short distance from local amenities, bars and restaurants to suit all cultures and tastes – so you’ll always have options of things to see and do.

A popular spot for students is Concert Square in the city centre. It has a lively vibe with a selection of bars to choose from, including Revolution, The Krazyhouse – a 3-floor nightclub playing a mix of all genres but famous for rock – and a Walkabout. Another popular area for students is Matthew Street, which is home to the The Cavern Club where the world famous group, The Beatles, refined their skills.

The historic yet contemporary Albert Dock is a key attraction in Liverpool. You can get there by foot in 20 minutes from Moorfield. At the dock you can enjoy international art, award-winning museums, bars and restaurants alongside the waterfront plus lots of other attractions. So, if you’re looking to dress up for a fancy night out and classy places to have a drink, this is the place to be!

If you’re looking for a place to eat, food lovers will be spoilt for choice. Pick from Almost Famous, San Carlo, Yard Bird and the elegant Art School restaurant, depending on the kind of dinner you’re picturing.

What's Around

You’ve also got the Walker Art Gallery, which is 8 minutes away. Of course, no stay in Liverpool is complete without seeing The Tate gallery, which you can get to in just 21 minutes. Avid readers will enjoy their brisk 8 minutes’ walk to the Central Library if their University library just isn’t ticking the boxes, and the St. John’s Shopping Centre is really handy at just 9 minutes away if you’re walking.

Liverpool’s many shopping centres cater to all your needs, with many high street names and independent boutiques available. The Liverpool One shopping centre is only a 10 minute walk away and it includes an Odeon Imax Cinema, plenty of food options, a Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf experience, plus much more. You can benefit from free membership to Lifestyles gyms across the city in your first year if you are a student at LJMU. At Moorfield your nearest Lifestyles gym is at Millenium, which you can walk to in only 4 minutes. Lifestyles gyms have spaces to do many kinds of sports and activities such as swimming, football and badminton.

Of course, not everyone will be at LJMU, and even if you are, it’s so nice to have a choice! You’ll find extensive sports facilities at the University of Liverpool, too, as well as several gyms across the city. The Gym is a popular chain, partly in thanks to the fact that you can access it 24 hours a day and the fact it’s student budget-friendly. Your nearest is just a 16 minute walk away from you.

If you enjoy your professional sports, Liverpool FC and Everton FC are only a 20 minute bus ride away from Liverpool’s city centre. You can purchase tickets for match days and tours of the stadiums at Anfield for Liverpool or at Goodison Park for Everton. You can also enjoy a great football match by purchasing tickets for lower league football. Simply take a ferry across the Mersey to watch Tranmere Rovers FC – it’s a bit cheaper and the atmosphere is just as good.

There’s something for everyone to do in Liverpool, you can even visit the Wavertree Athletics Centre and the Liverpool Aquatics Centre, which are located in the Wavertree Sports Park. Golf is another sport you can enjoy by taking a short trip across the water to nearby Hoylake, the home of the Open Championship at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
