Home to 263 students, Cathedral Park is full of character and history. Formerly known as Liberty Park, Cathedral Park is made up of three buildings: a converted cathedral, a modern new-build and the Upper School building. And thanks to its city centre location, it’s close to everything you’ll need.

All of the rooms here are fitted to a very high standard. Choose from one of our en-suite rooms and you’ll get a bed, plenty of storage, study desk and private bathroom, plus a shared kitchen and living area. Or if you like your independence and privacy, why not opt for a studio?

Away from your flat, Cathedral Park has some fantastic facilities. The common areas are kitted out with comfortable seating and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Feeling active? The on-site gym is free for you to use whenever you like. Head outside and you’ll also find a courtyard that’s perfect for relaxing on warmer days.

Venture out of your home and you’ll find the bustling city centre right on your doorstep. Nearby Park Street is lined with shops, bars and restaurants, as is Clifton to the north and Broadmead to the east. With the University of Bristol a few roads along and the University West of England a short bus ride away, you really are ideally located at Cathedral Park.

Some tasty favourites within a 15 minute radius of our student accommodation include; Jamie’s Italian, Nando’s and Wagamama, all of which can be found on Park Street.

For a larger variety of national favourites, visit Cabot Circus shopping centre – 8 minutes via bus. Here you will find many places to dine to your hearts content, which restaurants such as; Yo Sushi, Frankie and Benny’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Zizzi’s, Giraffe, Bella Italia and Five Guys. Apart from the national chains, there are some secret delights hidden around the city, Yume Kitchen is an authentic Thai restaurant serving some tasty treats, and Bagel Boy is your answer to a New York style bagel with some funky flavours involved.

There are so many good nightclubs in Bristol you won’t know where to turn. For a cheap night out, you’ll want to visit Thekla; a nightclub on a boat; voted best small venue in NME Magazine in 2012 – just a 20 minute walk away. Bunker is a 15 minute walk and is one of the most popular student destinations in Bristol – brilliant if you’re on a budget. Mr Wolf’s is a popular venue for Bristol students just a 10 minute walk away; the club features live music and is open 7 nights a week. For a mixture of sounds, Pryzm is your answer – with big name DJs, 7 themed rooms, 5 bars and 2 clubs all inside of the one venue.

The Harbourside is less than a 10 minute walk away and is the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy a drink – there are some great bars to do this in. Pitcher and Piano, BSB and The Cuban are all located along the waterfront; great in the summer months when the weather is good.

Liberty Park is best suited for students studying at The University of Bristol as the campus is less than a 10 minute walk. However, it can also accommodate students from the University of the West of England (UWE).

If you like to relax between lectures, there are numerous green spaces around the city which are perfect for sunbathing or a game of Frisbee! Castle Park is located in the city centre, next to Cabot Circus. Alternatively, you can visit College Green on Park Street, where all the University students go to enjoy the sunshine as a quick break between studies. Additionally, take a stroll up to the Clifton Downs and enjoy a beautiful view over the suspension bridge of the city of Bristol.

Music lovers will be well catered for, as Bristol has venues all over the city suiting all tastes in music genres. The Colston Hall and the O2 Academy famous artists just 20 minutes from Liberty Park. For those who like a more intimate venue and listening to some local bands and artists, there are a number of great places scattered around the centre; The Old Duke, The Fleece, and The Bierkeller are just to name a few.

If you enjoy movies, pop down to Cabot Circus and visit Showcase; an impressive multiscreen cinema showing the latest blockbusters. Bristol has a fantastic history, with a bunch of art galleries and museums located in the centre. To learn about the city itself visit MShed museum; 15 minutes from Liberty Park. Bristol Museum is right on the doorstep of the residence and displays a great range of exhibits with everything from dinosaurs to minerals, to stuffed animals to art to Egyptian as well as local history.

If you like art you’ll be in for a treat as the mysterious graffiti artist, Banksy is Bristol-born. The Banksy Tour takes you around the various pieces of artwork which the artist has completed over the last few years – which is a must!

Staying Active
Fitness fanatics will be well catered for as there are plenty of gyms located nearby to keep you in good stead. The nearest to the residence is Pure Gym, located 15 minutes’ walk away. Pure Gym is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and the affordable membership includes a range of fitness classes.

Football fans will be pleased as Bristol is home to two professional teams; Bristol City FC in Ashton Gate and Bristol Rovers FC on Gloucester Road. Both grounds are just over a 10 minute bus ride away. If you get a chance to see a game at either of these stadiums you won’t be disappointed – the atmosphere is electric on match days.

The University of Bristol is recognised for its sporting achievements across its facilities, clubs and high performing teams. Right in the heart of campus you will find the Indoor Sports Centre, which includes; indoor tennis centre, two artificial pitches; extensive playing fields; indoor 33-metre swimming pool; rowing facilities and boathouses and squash courts.

Travel and Transport
Liberty Park is located on Park Place just off Park Street in the heart of Bristol city centre. The residence is close to a range of transport links in addition to the fact that the M4 and M5 put both London and Birmingham within a 2 hour drive.

Bristol bus station is 15-20 minutes away by bus and First Bus provides links to the outskirts and inner city centre. Bristol’s main train station is Temple Meads, which is located less than a 20 minute bus ride away and can be reached by bus services 8 and 9. These buses run to and from the station every 10 minutes and stop just outside our student accommodation.

For those that live outside the UK, Bristol International Airport is just 6.5 miles away – that’s 15 minutes in a taxi. Buses are every 10 minutes and a student discount is offered with a valid ID card. The bus stops just a few minutes’ walk from the residence.

Local Amenities
Liberty Park’s location means you will be surrounded by an array of local amenities conveniently placed right on your doorstep.

There are a large range of small supermarkets located within the city centre which include; Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, and Waitrose. For more selection there is a Morrison’s a 10 minute walk away.

The city centre of Bristol is home to hundreds of high street shops and designer brands. In the centre you will also find a good selection of high street banks and Bureau de Change services – the majority of these can be found in the Broadmead area.
