Being home to just 213 students, Quay Point Studios (formerly Liberty Quay Studios) has an intimate feel to it. And with Northumbria University and Newcastle University both within walking distance, it’s the perfect base for student life in the city.

Choose Quay Point Studios as your home and you’ll be able to pick from a range of studio accommodation. This means that you’ll have a bathroom, kitchen facilities and a living space all to yourself. Studios also come with a study desk and plenty of storage. Like having space? Our one bedroom flat gives you plenty of room to make yourself at home.

When you feel like socialising with your neighbours, the common room offers the perfect place to do so, with ping pong, a Playstation area and lots of comfortable seating. A fully-equipped gym is also available for you to use, while an outdoor courtyard and BBQ area is great in the summer.

Venture away from your flat and you can be on the banks of the River Tyne within 10 minutes. Here, you’ll find trendy bars, the CatPawCino Cat Cafe and fantastic views of the city’s iconic bridges. Head 10 minutes in the opposite direction and you’ll find yourself in the heart of the vibrant city centre.

Quay Point Studios is located in central Newcastle; less than 10 minutes’ walk from Northumbria University,15 minutes from Newcastle University and 20 minutes from Newcastle College. The location of the residence means you will never be far away from the exciting social scenes the city has to offer.

Newcastle’s bars and pubs are known for being extremely welcoming and great value for money. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment as Quay Point Studios is located around hundreds of restaurants, bars, and music venues.

A few minutes’ walk from the residence is a popular student bar and restaurant; Nancy’s Bordello. The bar is especially well-known for its delicious cocktails and quirky interior, and they also do great value food; so don’t miss out!

The Quayside is an area set along the River Tyne, home to Newcastle’s iconic Millennium Bridge, just 5 minutes’ walk from Quay Point Studios. If you want to learn about the history of Newcastle, The Discovery Museum is worth a visit –25 minutes’ walk from Quay Point Studios. Alternatively, Northumbria University is located a 5 minute walk from Quay Point Studios and is home to an array of sporting services.  Not only do they have a fully equipped gym, they also house a 12m climbing wall and a 25m swimming pool.  

For fans of professional sport, Newcastle is well-known for its football club; Newcastle United. Their stadium is St James’ Park; in itself a hugely visual presence within the city and under 30 minutes’ walk from Quay Point Studios. Fans of Cricket will relish in the fact that Durham County Cricket Club is a 20 minute train journey away; the club hosts England International matches.

The Newcastle Eagles are the most successful British Basketball team in BBL and play their games at Northumbria University – 5 minutes from Quay Point Studios.

Exhibition Park is 30 minutes’ walk away, perfect for a game of football with friends or a gentle jog. Check out the weekly Saturday park run - it’s free!

Quay Point Studios is located on Melbourne Street, a short 15 minute walk from the city centre of Newcastle and Northumbria University campus and Newcastle University. The residence is ideally located so that you can make the most out of your time here.

Newcastle’s main train station is 15 minutes’ walk away and provides a quick link to other cities around the UK in all less than 3 hours, including London, Leeds, Scotland, and Manchester.  Additionally Newcastle has its own Metro train system, connecting the city centre with Jesmond, Gateshead, Sunderland and the coast in just under 30 minutes. The nearest Metro station to Quay Point Studios is Manors Station – 5 minutes’ walk away. For those who live outside of the UK, Newcastle International Airport is 6 miles north of the city and can be reached by the Metro as well. 

As well as the Metro system and Central train station there are two bus stations offering cheap fares across the city. If you are feeling really adventurous, catch one of the daily ferries from the International Ferry Terminal at North Shields to Amsterdam.
